Wednesday Morning Adventure
Happy Wednesday. Happy 21st Birthday to my little sis, I may add. Today started with a jolt. My cell phone alarm was set for 6:30, it takes me an hour to get ready, and I had a meeting at 8:30. Imagine my surprise when I wake up at 7:20 randomly and it's daylight (when I usually get up when it's dark). I check out the phone. Alarm didn't go off. Freak out. Following are the events that followed, as is usually the procedure when such an incident occurs:
-Immediately grab a pair of underwear that is on the floor. (No worries- it's clean. I just keep my clean laundry in piles on the floor- for these kinds of situations? Or just cause I'm lazy? You be the judge.)
-Bolt directly into the shower, borrow my roommate's 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner, soap the essential parts of the bod. We're talking door completely open, pajamas strewn about, etc. Thankfully my roommate is out of town.
-Hop out of the shower, throw on a bit of lotion, blow dry my hair and straighten like four strands, pop in the contacts/foundation/eye liner/mascara essentials, all whilst sporting just the underwear.
-Run into my room, grab the pants I wore yesterday that just happened to be located on the other side of the bed that I don't sleep on, grab an Old Navy turtleneck circa 1999, throw on some slip on shoes, grab my work bag (praise the baby j I hadn't touched that bag last night at all and thus my usual essential work items like badge and keys were all conveniently located in bag side pocket) and speed out onto the train.
What time did I arrive at work? 8-freaking-15.
How is that even possible? How can it take me so long to get ready every morning and somehow I'm at my work less than an hour later? It must have something to do with the fact that the Chicago transit authority gods were smiling upon me, because not only did an el arrive right as I made my ascent onto the platform, but there were no unexpected delays (as there usually are as other trains are either directly in front of or next to the train car you're riding in, resulting in the standard inching-along-the-way scenario), and on top of all that I got a freaking seat! It's a miracle. So I even had time to pick up a bagel. I've been out of it all day, thanks to that morning wake up.
