Armed with a freshly-purchased disposable digital camera from CVS, I painted the town orange this weekend and hit it hard for Halloween. On Friday the first order of business was to get in the work stash of candy corn. Second order was to witness what could be arguably the sweetest sight I've seen in Chicago thus far: the White Sox World Series victory rally. (More info on this, with pictures, in a post tomorrow). Third was to go to our quarterly-end work meeting for some free cocktails. Nothing like free jack and diets before the clock hits 5pm.
Later that evening I sported the large green outfit as a junior girl scout member of troop 1652. At our first party we met the cast of the Wizard of Oz, a Cubs beer vendor, Captain Morgan, Dumb and Dumber, the Hamburgler, Sadaam Hussein, and Slash- among other characters. The second party was filled with a lot of Disney Characters. I am constantly impressed with Chicagoans creative and monetary donations to their Halloween outfits. Nothing like Halloween to make me surprised at my general overall lack of creativity. And what's with every guy being somewhat hot if he puts effort into any sort of costume? It's real tricky.
Saturday, thanks to the LC, I got to experience Guster up close and personal at Schubas. Incredible. Here's a pic LC snapped, posing as an XRT photographer:

After the private viewing we paparazzied our way into a picture with the bongo player. Then the bongo player proposed marriage, but I politely declined. (I just wouldn't adjust well to life on the road). Later on that night I encountered the best cab driver in the city of Chicago. I told him to take me wherever $13 would get me (my dumbass went out without my debit card and after pooling our cash, $13 was all we could scrape up) and he still dropped me off in front of my apartment, despite the fare being $16. Thanks, Cabbie Angel.
I've been going strong with the drinking. The Sox being in the series had me out, plus three work drinking events in a row, and then Halloween. Today I sat on the couch pretty much all day long and only moved to clean the apartment and pick up Chipotle. Check out my AIM profile for a glimpse at what a typical Sunday looks like at my apartment. Ben snapped that gem around 1 this afternoon after an impromptu visit from a neighbor, while he was fully dressed and a functional member of society. At least one of us can make it out into the world on a Sunday.
