This post is not about Laguna Beach
Today I found myself on the el with the mother of all candy necklaces, which comes in brightly colored packaging reading very boldly (as far as the eye can see) KING OF THE LOVE BEADS. That's right, I've got another bachelorette party coming up.
So the thought of another bachelorette party led me to recall a conversation earlier this week, where a couple pals of mine were discussing how lately it's become painfully obvious that in the last two years since we graduated from college, we've actually seemed to be making negative progress in our lives. At first glance, we might want to be a little worried. So, being the professional list-maker that I am decided to take some quality employer time, break it down and see if, in fact, this is the case.
The case for me making negative progress in the last two years:
-I've probably got the same amount of money in my checking account then I did when my parents were paying my rent.
-Back then I had a boyfriend and high hopes of love being perfect.
-I watch way more Felicity now then I did that summer.
-I had very high expectations of where I'd be now-- aka owning a condo, at least having a decent business clothing wardrobe.
-I drank a lot less alcohol then.
-I definitely spend a ton more money now than I did then (In Lawrence, drinks were probably $2 and you could find food for $3)
The case for me making positive progress in the last two years:
-I love my career field, love my job.
-I love this city.
-I'm not as freaked out by the future anymore.
-I own some furniture (even though some of it doesn't fit in my apartment) and some cool gadgets (camera, ipod).
-I'm freaking fabulously happy
So, I don't know- maybe I've made some sideways progress.
Tomorrow, I do some sort of two hour tree yoga with the inventor of the technique herself. Lord help me.
