In Retrospect: Not Such A Great Idea

Ok, not really. But it could have happened last night.
Yesterday, I was adamant about NOT going out. Ask anyone. I told everyone I knew that I was staying in to conserve funds for Vegas next weekend. I was REALLY going to stick to this. $50, one frozen margarita, 1/2 a pitcher of margaritas on the rocks, one reenactment of a littering offense, one overly generous bartender, two very stiff double Jack & Diets, one bar fight resulting in the breaking of a glass, and one photoshoot later, I'm sitting on the couch hungover as hell in the middle of Twizzler cherry bites that somehow got all strewn about, examining my text messages and asking myself WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME. Why is it so impossible for me to NOT spend money? Do I really want to go down to the depths of financial debt hell in a hazy tequila-smelling stupor?
Here's how we ended up on the wrong path yesterday. We started out good and strong right after work. All pumped up in our black capri work-out pants, heading out to a 2-hour yoga session with Ms. Forrest Yoga herself. Around Ashland & Clybourn was when I unfortunately learned about a free keg situation occurring during yoga. That's when a U-turn was pulled and we changed our minds to drink, instead of exercise/do good for our bodies. Here's the kicker: We didn't even do the keg thing. Instead, we changed and went to the Mexican restaurant by our apartment (which is my new favorite) and drank a pitcher plus of margaritas. This put us in fine form to head over to a bar.
That's where we met the best bartender in all of Chicagoland. He was mixing up $6 double Jack & Diets- fully loaded. At one point he was pouring extra Jack over the top. The drinks inspired chaos. Chaos involving my-down-the-block-neighbor and I getting in an almost fistfight (it was all in good fun), which took a turn for the worse when a drink got knocked out and shattered everywhere. (I should probably check my foot for glass shards).
We managed it home safe and sound, where I was convinced that someone was trying to break into my back door. (Really, what happens is just when my neighbors close their back door it makes my door sound like it's trying to be opened). All in all, my plan to spend $0 this weekend has severely backfired. I've got to be serious about this. Starting today.
